EMI Noise Mitigation for Multiple Inverters of Hybrid Electric Aircraft Propulsion Systems
This paper investigates power electronics system architecture and control methodology for hybrid electric aircraft (HEA) focusing on the electro-magnetic interference (EMI) noise suppression. Simulations are performed to characterize the common-mode (CM) noise of two-level (2L) full bridge and three-level (3L) active-neutral-point-clamped (ANPC) inverter topologies. The results indicate 3L ANPC inverter has less CM noise on the motor side but leads to an increase on the DC bus. In response to this, synchronized modulation of the multiple inverters is identified as a control scheme with significant potential to suppress CM noise in the DC bus and to curtail EMI filter components.
