Process Parameter and Dimension‐Dependent Mn Vaporization During Laser Powder Bed Fusion of an Fe–Mi–Si–Cr‐Based Shape Memory Alloy
Shape Memory Alloys In article number 2500327, Anastasiya Toenjes and Maylin Homfeldt investigate laser-induced compositional grading due to Mn vaporization during PBF-LB/M of a Fe–Mi–Si–Cr-based shape memory alloy. This vaporization can deplete the stabilizing element enough to trigger a phase transformation, leading to cracking. The cover sample shows a tree-like crack pattern, with EBSD data mapping the transformation like a tree crown.
