PROCRASTINAÇÃO ACADÊMICA: Contribuições de variáveis demográficas e do perfeccionismo em universitários
This study examines the relationship between perfectionism and academic procrastination among 198 university students from Ceará and Piauí, while controlling for sex and age. Maladaptive perfectionism, characterized by excessive concern over unattainable standards and self-criticism, demonstrated a significant positive correlation with academic procrastination (r = .55, p < .001), suggesting that higher levels of maladaptive perfectionism are associated with increased procrastination. Among the demographic variables analyzed, only age emerged as a significant predictor of academic procrastination (β = -.29, t = -5.24, p < .001), indicating that younger students tend to procrastinate more frequently. The findings underscore the influence of maladaptive perfectionism and age on academic procrastination, highlighting that younger individuals with higher levels of maladaptive perfectionism tend to procrastinate more in academic activities.
