Design and fabrication of large-mode-area silica all-solid anti-resonant fiber

High-power fiber lasers face challenges in suppressing nonlinear effects and high-order mode (HOM) leakage during power scaling. Here, a silica-glass-based five-hole all-solid anti-resonant fiber (AS-ARF) via modified chemical vapor deposition (MCVD) and rod-in-tube techniques was designed and fabricated in this work. The fiber achieves a mode field diameter of 47 µm with a transmission loss of 0.58 dB/m at 1080 nm. Through further structural design optimization, the simulated loss reached 0.0068 dB/m, comparable to conventional silica fibers. At 630 nm (anti-resonant wavelength), the fiber possessed mode-filtering characteristics, improving the beam quality factor M2 from 7.66 to 1.84. The solid-core structure enables fusion splicing with commercial fibers and rare-earth doping potential. This work demonstrates the first low-loss silica-based AS-ARF, offering a feasible pathway toward all-fiber, high-power laser systems with optimized beam quality.
