UJI TOKSISITAS SUBAKUT CAMPURAN EKSTRAK BIDARA ARAB DAN SAGA POHON TERHADAP KADAR SERUM GLUTAMIC OXALOACERTIC TRANSMINASE DAN SERUM GLUTAMIC PYRUVIC TRANSMINASE PADA TIKUS
The plants Ziziphus spina-christi (Bidara Arab) and Abrus precatorius (Saga tree) are commonly used in traditional medicine due to their antioxidant properties (flavonoids). Combining extracts from these plants aims to maximize therapeutic effects and minimize side effects. However, their impact on liver health needs further investigation, necessitating toxicity testing. This study aims to evaluate the potential toxicity of a mixture of Ziziphus spina-christi and Abrus precatorius extracts on SGOT and SGPT levels in white rats (Rattus norvegicus). The experimental method involved 30 rats divided into 5 groups, each consisting of 6 rats (3 males and 3 females): a negative control group, a positive control group (1% Na CMC), and three treatment groups (doses of 4000, 8000, and 10,000 mg/kg body weight). The extracts were administered orally for 21 days, with observations every 24 hours. Kruskal-Wallis statistical tests indicated no toxic effects on SGOT (p = 0.299) and SGPT (p = 0.149) levels, suggesting that the mixture of extracts at doses of 4000, 8000, and 10,000 mg/kg body weight does not exhibit toxicity to SGOT and SGPT levels in white rats and is safe for liver health
