Optimizing Holographic Metasurface Design for CubeSat Applications: The Role of Phase Correction Factor
Recent advances in electromagnetic metasurfaces have opened up new possibilities for developing innovative antenna systems. This paper presents a novel holographic metasur-face design for the CubeSat application. This paper also reviews the role of the phase correction factor in metasurface design. A holographic metasurface is a 2 dimensional artificially engineered structure typically consisting of sub-wavelength elements (meta-atoms) arranged in a periodic or quasi-periodic manner. The holography concept from optics is used here to encode phase information to reconstruct the three-dimensional image or pattern. A metasurface can manipulate electromagnetic surface waves, which is impossible with conventional antennas. This paper provides a detailed explanation of holographic metasurface is given. A comparison study between two metasurface designs (with and without a phase-correction factor) is analyzed using a specific performance analysis.
