Design and Development of a Counterinsurgency Robot
Terrorism continues to pose a significant threat to national security in India and thereby slow down the nation’s progress towards development. Traditional counterinsurgency methods often involve exposing the lives of the soldiers to danger. This work aims to develop a 11 DoF counterinsurgency robot that can detect hidden targets and neutralize them, thereby minimizing the exposure of soldiers to danger. This robot is capable of navigating through complex terrain, tracking, and neutralizing targets remotely. The overall system is a combination of a mobile robot and a turret manipulator system. The system allows the integration of a wide variety of assault riffles into the turret manipulator, improving flexibility. The manipulator consists of a recoil absorber mechanism to increase the stability and precision while striking. The system incorporates sensor fusion techniques and an advanced object detection algorithm, along with a visual servoing algorithm for effective detection and tracking of threats.
