Voice controlled Navigation With integrated Computer Vision and IoT
Leveraging a combination of computer vision, IoT and voice-controlled navigation, Next Generation AI Wheelchair is an innovative new assistive technology designed for people who have partial paralysis. This wheelchair makes life easier for users with motor handicaps providing mobility and independence through the autonomous navigation while avoiding an obstacle. It processes live visual data taken from a front-facing camera then uses image processing and AI algorithms to avoid obstacles and plan paths more accurately. In addition, if voice recognition technology is developed in the future, even people with low physical ability can easily operate the wheelchair. This paper focuses on the design and functionality of a user-centered assistive device, addressing the immediate need for versatility in assistive solutions. Since even a single control can provide more than one technology, the research work promises to take an integrated approach to mobility assistance with its multimodal controls, including voice commands, computer vision for obstacle detection and Internet of Things for remote monitoring. The caregivers are able to monitor the surroundings of the user and track the user’s location through direct communication enabled by an IoT integration. Through voice control, computer vision and the Internet of Things (IoT), it significantly reduces a user’s dependency on others just to be able to move around as they so wish; boosting their independence and confidence. The proposed wheelchair is thus a substantial leap forward in assistive technology to meet the varied needs of users by combining accessibility, safety and usability.
