Design and Development of Series Resonant Dual Active Bridge DC-DC Converter
The Bidirectional Dual-Active Bridge DC-DC converter is an advancing technology increasingly used in electric vehicle charging and renewable energy applications where DC voltage needs to be stepped up or down. However, operating the DAB at high switching frequencies results in significant switching losses. By incorporating resonant converter topologies within the DAB, soft-switching techniques can be achieved, thereby minimizing switching losses and enhancing overall efficiency. This paper presents the design and analysis of bidirectional DC-DC series Resonant Dual Active Bridge Converter(SRDAB). The leakage inductance of transformer itself is utilized for achieving resonant condition with out introducing any additional inductance to the circuit. The PSIM-based simulations are carried out to evaluate the efficacy of the SRDAB converter and a 3 kW hardware prototype is developed to validate the system performance.
