METROLOGY IN THE ERA OF DIGITALIZATION OF MEASUREMENT PROCESSES

The article explores the transformation of metrology in the era of digitalization, emphasizing how the rapid advancement of digital technologies is reshaping measurement processes across various industries. Digital technologies in metrology encompass a wide array of tools and methods used for precise measurement, calibration, and quality control. Key technologies include: digital measuring instruments, automated measurement systems, metrological software, the Internet of Things (IoT) in metrology, 3D scanning and computed tomography, calibration blocks with integrated digital systems, digital sensors and transducers, and data acquisition systems (DAS). These innovations enhance the precision, traceability, and reliability of measurement results and support real-time monitoring and decision-making. The study highlights the role of artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and big data analytics in the development of intelligent metrological systems. Special attention is paid to digital twins and smart sensors as transformative tools that enable advanced diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and optimization of technological processes. However, the integration of digital tools into traditional metrological systems also introduces challenges related to data security, standardization, legal metrology, and interoperability. The authors stress the need for updated regulatory and methodological frameworks to ensure the integrity, comparability, and international harmonization of measurements. Moreover, the article emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary training for specialists who must operate within digital metrological environments. Ultimately, digital transformation in metrology is presented not merely as a technical upgrade, but as a strategic imperative for ensuring quality, safety, and competitiveness in the global economy.
