Enhanced securing wireless Intrusion Detection System using cryptography algorithm
Wireless networks are rapidly expanding due to their ease of setup and cost-effectiveness, but security remains a critical concern. These networks are vulnerable to threats such as DoS attacks, network jamming, junk transmissions, teardrop attacks, Ping of Death (POD), and Man-in-the-Middle (MITM) attacks. Wireless Intrusion Detection Systems (WIDS) play a vital role in detecting unauthorized access using anomaly-based or signature-based detection methods. This study presents an enhanced WIDS incorporating cryptographic algorithms to improve security and threat detection. Encryption techniques safeguard data integrity and confidentiality but introduce computational overhead and increased power consumption. The proposed approach balances security and efficiency, ensuring real-time threat detection with minimal performance trade-offs. Performance is analyzed in terms of detection accuracy, response time, and resilience against various attack scenarios. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system in strengthening wireless network security.
