Ultra‐High‐Capacity of Earth‐Abundant Cathodes Enabled by Excess Fluoride‐Ion Insertion/Extraction (Adv. Energy Mater. 29/2025)

Fluoride-Ion Batteries In article number 2406131, Kentaro Yamamoto and co-workers develop oxyfluoride cathodes SrFeO2Fx and Sr-substituted CaFeO2Fx, which deliver high capacities by (de)intercalating excess F− using Fe2+/Fe3+ redox and oxygen redox (O–O bond formation). The Ca0.8Sr0.2FeO2Fx among them has an extreme large reversible capacity of 580 mAh g−1.
