The Silent Barrier: Test Anxiety and its Influence on Academic Success in Early Education
The major purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between test anxiety and student’s academic achievement at elementary level. The study was quantitative in nature and survey research design was used for this research. The population of the study was grade 6 students enrolled in public schools in district Lahore Pakistan. The sample of the study was 400 male and female students from four public schools. A convenient sampling technique was used to select the sample of study. An adopted questionnaire was used based on 3 factors and 30 items. The data was collected by personal visit to the schools. Data was analyzed using Pearson r correlation and linear regression analysis. The findings revealed a significant negative correlation between test anxiety and academic achievement, indicating that higher levels of test anxiety are associated with lower academic performance. The regression analysis showed that test anxiety is a statistically significant predictor of academic performance. It is recommended that teachers may provide students with ample resources and opportunities for test preparation. This can include practice tests, study guides, and review sessions, which can help build confidence and reduce anxiety.
