Efektivitas senam hipertensi pada lansia dalam mengontrol tekanan darah: A literature review

Background: One of the many physiological declines associated with aging is hypertension, which indirectly affects the elderly. Among non-communicable diseases, hypertension ranks as the leading cause of death. The number of people diagnosed with hypertension is projected to increase to 1.5 billion by 2025, with 9.4 million deaths occurring annually. Purpose: To analyze the effectiveness of hypertension exercise in controlling blood pressure among the elderly. Method: A literature review using articles sourced from Google Scholar within the 2020–2025 period. Articles were selected based on inclusion criteria such as relevant topics, full-text availability, and involving elderly individuals with hypertension. From a total of 8,230 articles, 5 were selected for analysis. Results: A review of the five selected research articles indicated that regular hypertension exercise reduces blood pressure in the elderly, with significant improvements observed between pre- and post-exercise measurements. Conclusion: One non-pharmacological approach to managing hypertension in the elderly is performing hypertension exercise regularly. Keywords: Blood Pressure; Elderly; Hypertension Exercise.
