Teaching Vietnamese to Lao students in Son La province in general and at Son La College in particular, is a major policy of the Party and the State. Therefore, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People’s Committee and the Provincial People’s Council of Son La have issued many policies and investment strategies for education and training of international students in the province, with the main goal of building good diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos, contributing to firmly protecting the country’s borders. In particular, an important factor determining the quality of education for international students is the need to innovate teaching methods and assess Vietnamese language proficiency of learners. By innovating teaching methods to encourage the initiative, self-awareness and creativity of learners; suitable to the characteristics of each international student; promoting self-study methods.
