Cadena Productiva y de Valor de la Guanábana en el Municipio De Compostela, Nayarit

This article examines the soursop production chain in the localities of Lima de Abajo, Puerta de la Lima, Altavista, and Las Varas in the municipality of Compostela, Nayarit. Using a qualitative methodological approach and through semi-structured interviews, the voices of 19 farmers (15 men and 4 women) were collected, identifying the barriers that prevent this activity from becoming a driver of local economic development. The findings highlight the technological needs for the identification and appropriate management of highly effective agrochemicals to eradicate each pest or disease, the lack of institutional support, phytosanitary issues, and weaknesses in community organization. It is concluded that soursop production in the localities studied remains a subsistence agricultural activity with great potential for rural development.
