Optimizing hydrogen refueling station selection under fuzzy conditions: A driver-oriented AROMAN approach

Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are gaining traction as a viable means of sustainable transportation, aligning with the ethos of societal sustainability. As the number of hydrogen-powered vehicles continues to rise, the establishment of hydrogen refueling stations becomes increasingly pertinent. This study tackles the complexities inherent in selecting an optimal hydrogen refueling station, considering the viewpoint of drivers. To aid drivers in this decision-making process, a recently developed multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) approach called Alternative Ranking Order Method Accounting Two-Step Normalization (AROMAN) is employed within a fuzzy environment. Various factors are evaluated during this process, encompassing the driver's proximity to the station, travel time to the charger, anticipated wait time in case of charger unavailability, and the availability of free charging slots at each station. The application of this methodology is shown by use of a practical case study.
