Improving nutritional status in colorectal cancer – case study

Colorectal cancer is a common oncological condition in elderly individuals, with malnutrition, sarcopenia, and nutritional deficiencies potentially affecting treatment response and the quality of life. In this case study, a 75-year-old patient diagnosed with colorectal cancer was assessed from a nutritional perspective. Recommendations were made for the management of gastrointestinal symptoms. Additionally, suggestions for light physical activity, such as daily walks and moderate resistance exercises, were included. Currently, the gastrointestinal symptoms have significantly improved, the patient has gained weight, and the quality of life has increased. To maintain optimal energy levels and ensure good treatment compliance, continued close monitoring of nutritional status is recommended.
