Geriatrische complexiteit van zorg: een case-report over lithiumgeïnduceerde arginine-vasopressineresistentie
Geriatric complexity of care: a case report on lithium-induced arginine-vasopressin resistance (AVP-R). This article describes a case of an 82-year-old patient with acute hypernatremia and acute renal failure secondary to dehydration with underlying lithium-induced AVP-R. The symptomatology arises after the patient, admitted at the hospital due to an uncomplicated fall, develops an acute delusional state. As a result of intravenous rehydration and discontinuation of lithium therapy, the clinical and biochemical condition evolves favorably. This case reflects the complexity of care within a population of geriatric patients, (geriatric care complexity) as well as the important role of primary care providers.
