IMPLEMENTATION CHALLENGES OF NEP 2020 IN HIGHER EDUCATION OF ARUNACHAL PRADESH

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 promises a major shift in the Indian education system, with an emphasis on flexibility, quality, research, and inclusiveness. While many higher education institutions across the country have initiated its implementation, the ground-level situation varies significantly across states. This study explores the implementation status, infrastructural limitations, teacher-related challenges, and teacher perceptions regarding NEP 2020 in higher education institutions in Arunachal Pradesh. A descriptive survey method was employed, and data were collected from 30 teachers from nine colleges affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University. The findings indicated an uneven implementation process, communication gaps, shortage of trained teacher, infrastructural gaps, and the need for region-specific planning. The paper also suggests possible strategies to ensure that the spirit of NEP 2020 is effectively implemented in the region.
