Morphological parameters of blood and productivity of piglets with the use of astalyte
In recent decades, microbial preparations, or probiotics, have been widely used in the practice of humane and veterinary medicine to prevent and treat gastrointestinal disorders. Unlike antibiotics, probiotics are not addictive to opportunistic pathogens, and their waste products do not accumulate in animal organs and tissues and do not affect product quality. The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of the complex probiotic preparation AstaLyte on the morphological composition of piglets' blood and their productivity. The study was conducted in one of the farms of Khmelnytskyi region. There were 3 groups of piglets, 14 animals in each group. The first group (I, control) received standard feed, the second (II, experimental) – standard feed with the addition of AstaLyte at a dose of 50 g/l, and the third (III, experimental) with the addition of AstaLyte at a dose of 75 g/l. The complex preparation combines probiotics, vitamins and minerals. The drug was administered from day 2 to day 8 of life. In both the control and experimental groups, growth and development indicators were recorded at 2-, 14-, and 28 days of life. At the end of the experiment, namely on the 28th day, the live weight of piglets and average daily weight gain were determined. Blood samples were taken from piglets of all groups at 2-, 14- and 28-day of age for hematological studies. The number of erythrocytes and leukocytes, hemoglobin and hematocrit in whole blood was determined using an automatic hematology analyzer. It was found that the use of AstaLyte in piglets improved hematopoiesis and natural resistance of their body. The introduction of AstaLyte at a dose of 75 g/l provided an increase in piglet body weight and average daily weight gain on day 28 of life by an average of 12.2 %. There was a tendency to increase the hemoglobin content, the number of red blood cells (P < 0.05), leukocytes and lymphocytes (P < 0.05). The most effective was the administration of AstaLyte to piglets at a dose of 75 g/l.
