Design Methodology of Satellite Behavior by Resilience Evaluations First Report: Proposal of Resilience Evaluation Methodology, and the Result of Quantitative Evaluation of Reset Function
Autonomy on satellite operation is an essential technology to reduce the operational load of the satellite constellation. In our previous study, we have presented a satellite autonomy method using a state machine that represents satellite behavior and demonstrated it on orbit. However, this previous study assumed a given satellite behavior, and did not present a design methodology to ensure that the satellite behavior is appropriate for the intention of the satellite operation. In the series of papers starting with this paper, we will report a method for designing satellite behavior using resilience as an evaluation index. We model satellite behavior using state machines, define resilience, derive rules for designing satellite behavior, and present a method for improving resilience quantitatively.
