Scheduling Home Appliances Based on BPSO, Without Exceeding Basic Power Consumption Rate, Considering Usage Priority
Energy demand is a problem faced by power systems. Therefore, strategies have been developed for both the provider and the residential user. Residential electricity consumption in Mexico represents the largest percentage of end users, therefore, its participation impacts energy efficiency. This paper aims to provide the user with an efficient list of appliances, considering the importance of use in the home without exceeding the basic bimonthly rate, through the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm in its Binary variant, addressing the knapsack problem. The results obtained show that the algorithm is capable of suggesting to the user which appliances they can keep on and off to bill at the lowest rate.
