Acorn Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) core workshops
Core from the Lower Cretaceous, Captain Sandstone fairway of the Outer Moray Firth in wells 14/29a-5 and 20/4b-7 of the Goldeneye Field was looked at in two Acorn Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) core workshops. The Captain Sandstone Member is the target storage formation for CO 2 injection in the Acorn CCS project. The depositional character, internal heterogeneity and degree of ‘communication’ within the Captain Sandstone was considered and the impact of historical production and future CO 2 and pressure migration within the Captain fairway discussed.
