PARTISIPASI POLITIK SISWA SEBAGAI PEMILIH PEMULA PADA PEMILU 2024 DI SMA NEGERI

This research aims to examine the forms of political participation among students as first-time voters and the factors influencing it during the 2024 General Election at SMA Negeri 4 Kota Gorontalo. This research employs a descriptive gualitative research method, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving students who met the criteria as eligible voters. The findings indicate that students demonstrated a relatively high level of political participation in the form of voting, primarily driven by personal awareness as well as influence from teachers, parents, and peers. However, participation in other forms, such as campaigning, contracting, and cooperative activities, remains low due to time constraints, lack of parental permission, and academic responsibilities. Several inhibiting factors were identified, including social factors such as politically indifferent environments, limited discussions, and the dominance of entertainment on social media: political factors such as low trust in political parties and candidates, as well as cultural and physical conditions. Therefore, there is a need to strengthen political education and provide supportive environments so that firsttime voters can engage more actively and comprehensively in the democratic process.
