This article presents a new methodology for analysing film and television scripts using freely available subtitle files and commonplace spreadsheet tools. It analyses gendered communication patterns in animated television programming and details step-by-step instructions with links to instructional videos. Results obtained using this new methodology are used as part of an ongoing research project on the representation of female characters in the Netflix series, Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021–present).
