Drugs of the future: humic acids

Humic substances are natural and processable structures formed as a result of the decay of plants. They are yellow to black in colors, are entirely natural organic structures with hydrophilic properties and high molecular weight.Humic substances are ubiquitous organic compounds that arise during the chemical and microbiological oxidation process, the second largest process in the carbon cycle. This process is called humification. Both the positive effects, prophylactic effects and therapeutic effects of humic substances on human health have an important place. In addition, its effect on animal physiology and its contributions to fertilization and detoxification in agriculture also positively affect the environment and ecosystem. As a part of nature, humans, animals and agriculture are mutually affected by the mentioned situations.Humic acids, one of the important components of soil, have the potential to be used in both humans and animals because they are reliable substances. They do not cause harm like mutagens, do not leave residues in the animal's body and feed, and are also used to increase productivity in both poultry and cattle.Humic substances and their components are used in many areas. The most common areas of use can be listed as agriculture, medicine, pharmacy, animal husbandry, environmental technologies and polymer industry.Recently, studies on various types of cancer and their treatment have been ongoing. In addition, humic substances play an important role in skin health. It shows positive results both in skin problems and in protecting skin health.Within the scope of this study, the effects of humic substances on human health in recent years will be discussed
