Is constitutional law still relevant today?

The paper explores the evolving characteristics of constitutional law in the early decades of the 21st century, focusing on both external and internal factors driving these changes, as well as the social engagement of constitutional legal scholarship and constitutional lawyers in the modern socio-political community. The author first presents his view on the continued relevance of classical constitutional law, before highlighting the factors contributing to its transformation, such as the internationalization of constitutional law on the one hand, and the contemporary socio-political context in which both longstanding and newer constitutional institutions operate. Emphasis is also placed on the role of the main creators of constitutional law - the traditional one: constitutional legal scholarship, and the more recent one, which has gained importance in the second half of the 20th century: constitutional courts. The author particularly underscores the role of prominent (constitutional) lawyers, arguing that their contribution to the enlightening mission of constitutional law must be sufficiently visible, effective, and organized. He concludes that Serbia has constitutional lawyers whose professional and academic relevance is undisputed, but assesses that they are not sufficiently visible in the public sphere.

He concludes that Serbia has constitutional lawyers whose professional and academic relevance is undisputed, but assesses that they are not sufficiently visible in the public sphere.
