The local singular boundary numerical model for two-phase debris flow
This article discusses the possibilities of using local meshless methods for modeling the movement of avalanches and rapid slope movements. These are dangerous phenomena that can cause extensive damage to the infrastructure of mountainous areas, and numerical models are therefore an important tool for predicting them. Most models used are based on a shallow water flow algorithm that neglects the viscosity of the water. This is no longer fully valid for debris flows, where the viscosity of the material is much greater. The numerical model presented combines shallow water and viscous flow algorithms. Due to some advantages over traditional numerical methods, meshless methods are now increasingly used. For the development of the debris flow model, the article used the local method of weighted squares for the advection part and the local singular boundary method for the solution of the viscous part. In order to verify the possibilities of this method, the article compares the results of the solution with two experimental measurements. The method shows good agreement with both large-scale USGS experiments and laboratory measurements, confirming its applicability for debris flow modeling.
