MPC based hybrid energy storage system fed micro grid using FLC and ANN methods

In the present work, the usual PI controller for a hybrid energy storage system (HESS) requires filters to divide high- and low-frequency power changes and sophisticated parameter modification.MPC is suggested to regulate three-level bidirectional DC/DC converters for grid connections to a HESS in a DC micro grid. The mathematical model of a HESS with a battery and ultra-capacitor (UC) is built first, and the neutral point voltage imbalance of a three-level converter is resolved by analyzing its operating modes. Second, MPC is recommended for calculating steady state reference values in the outer layer and dynamic rolling optimization in the inner layer to control grid-connected converters. While the outer layer controls voltage and produces the current predictive model, the inner layer employs model predictive current control to minimize system current ripple by following the expected value. Two controllers and no filters distribute HESS high- and low-frequency power in this cascaded configuration. Two types of energy storage systems can manage voltage and assign battery and UC power independently. Finally, Matlab/Simulink simulations test the HESS control approach in a controller comparison and failure scenario.
