Optimal structure of multicomponent diffusion carbide coatings on hard alloy

The results of the analysis of the structure and phase-chemical composition of multicomponent carbide coatings obtained by thermochemical treatment are presented in the article. The process of obtaining diffusion carbide coatings includes two stages: 1) preliminary preparation of a saturating powder mixture by aluminothermic synthesizing metals from oxides in the composition: 98 % (50 % Al2O3 + 50 % (70 % MexOy + 30 % Al)) + 2 % NH4Cl, where MexOy oxides Cr2O3, TiO2, V2O5, MoO3, Nb2O5; 2) TCT of hard alloy T15K6 (79 % WC + 15 % TiC + 6 % Co) in the previous synthesized powder mixture at 1100 °C for 6 hours. The results of the phase analysis of carbide layers in a saturating system based on Cr—Ti—Mo oxides are generalized. The structural and phase—chemical analysis of optimal Cr—Ti—V, Cr—Ti—Mo, Cr—V—Mo and Cr—V—Nb carbide coatings, in which the highest levels of microhardness and wear resistance are achieved, is carried out. After applying multicomponent diffusion carbide coatings, the operational resistance of carbide tools increased by 1.5–20 times compared with traditional ones.
