Potensi Kulit Pisang Kepok (Musa Paradisiaca Var. Balbisiana colla) Sebagai Pewarna Alami Kain Katun

Synthetic dyes pose significant environmental and health risks due to their persistent toxic components, driving interest in sustainable alternatives, such as natural colorants. This study investigated the potential of kepok banana (Musa Paradisiaca Var. Balbisiana colla) peel extract as a natural dye for cotton fabric, evaluating its color characteristics under varying dyeing conditions (temperatures: 50°C, 60°C, 70°C; durations: 15, 25, 35 minutes) through a systematic process involving scouring, mordanting, extraction, and dyeing. Color identification using the Colorblind Assistant application revealed four distinct hues across nine samples: muddy waters brown, calm shell pink, warm brown, and dark salmon pink, demonstrating significant variation in color intensity. The results confirm the strong viability of kepok banana peel as a cotton dye source and establish that both temperature and dyeing time significantly influence the final fabric coloration.
