Development of polyisobutylene-based release coating for protection of metal tooling
А release coating based on polyisobutylene has been developed. The influence of polyisobutylene content in a naphtha-based solvent, thermostating temperature, and coating formation time on the adhesive strength of the coating to a metallic surface was investigated. Optimal relationships between the coating composition and manufacturing conditions were established to achieve the highest adhesive strength. The surface morphology of the coating was analyzed, and its chemical resistance to concentrated acids and alkalis was determined. It was shown that the coating exhibits hydrophobic properties.
