Clinical and paraclinical research in chronic anemia in companion animals

The diagnosis of chronic anemia requires a rigorous algorithm to ensure the accurate identification of its underlying causes. This algorithm must be well-structured to minimize the risk of omissions and errors in the diagnostic process. Additionally, regular clinical and paraclinical evaluations are essential for detecting latent or asymptomatic conditions that may be difficult to identify without systematic monitoring. These evaluations not only help prevent diagnostic errors but also contribute to assessing treatment efficacy and preventing further complications. This study, conducted on a sample of 117 animals, including 41 dogs and 76 cats, focused on diagnosing and managing chronic anemia, with particular attention to renal insufficiency and chronic hemorrhages, two of the most common causes of this condition.
