The Impact of Synergistic Effects of ESG Practices and Digital Innovation on Enhancing Organizational Resilience in the Transportation Industry
This study examines how ESG practices and digital innovation synergistically enhance organizational resilience in the transportation industry. Using multidimensional data from listed transportation companies and XGBoost machine learning models, the following findings are made: First, ESG environmental practices, through integrating green technology R&D (e.g., new energy vehicles, intelligent route optimization) and digital tools (e.g., real-time carbon data platforms), significantly enhance resilience, though regulations and technological compatibility moderate their benefits. Second, ESG practices in social responsibility enhance management resilience via blockchain-driven supply chain transparency (e.g., logistics tracking systems), improving recovery speed by 40% during disruptions. Third, corporate governance optimization drives business model innovation through data-driven risk systems (e.g., AI-based route evaluation); however, companies with insufficient governance maturity may suppress collaboration due to the “data silo” effect. The study reveals that digital innovation moderates ESG's effect on resilience, with innovation investment and ESG scores driving enhancement. Based on sub-industry heterogeneity (e.g., ports relying on green technology, road freight focusing on management optimization), this study proposes recommendations for a hierarchical ESG policy framework and a digital governance mechanism, offering guidance for sustainable development.
