Research on the impact of digital rural construction on the happiness of rural residents-An empirical analysis based on CFPS2020 data

The construction and development of digital villages is an effective way to improve the happiness of rural residents in the new era. This research matches the county digital village index in 2020 with the CFPS micro data, and uses the entropy method to construct the digital village construction index system. The ordered Probit model is used to empirically study the impact of digital village construction on the happiness of rural residents and discuss the heterogeneity and mechanism of action. The results are the construction of digital villages can significantly improve the happiness of rural residents. Among them, the digitalization of rural economy, the digitalization of rural governance, and the degree of rural digital culture, education and health also have positive effects on the happiness of rural residents to varying degrees. The results of heterogeneity analysis show that the effect of digital village construction on improving the happiness of rural residents is more significant among young and middle-aged people, those in the central region, and those with junior high school education or below. Mechanism analysis verifies that the construction of digital villages can improve the happiness of rural residents by increasing per capita household income and promoting social equity. And the research puts forward specific policy recommendations from three aspects for the research topic.
