Continuously tunable optical states of highly textured Sb2Te3

Sb 2 Te 3 and Ge 2 Sb 2 Te 5 (GST) are important materials used in phase-change photonic devices. We investigated the tunable optical properties of Sb 2 Te 3 , demonstrating its potential for continuous tuning from metallic-like to dielectric behavior through intermediate amorphous states. Using a resonant thin-film structure, we explored how Sb 2 Te 3 may enable continuous color modification. We have also designed and simulated optical reflectors to enhance color tuning by gradually disordering the Sb 2 Te 3 crystal structure. These results suggest that gradual changes in the optical properties of Sb 2 Te 3 could be potentially used for future visible photonic applications, such as zero-static power tunable color reflective displays.
