An Analysis of the Effects of Unemployment Rate, Human Development Index, and Economic Growth on Poverty Levels in Klaten Regency
Poverty remains a persistent issue in Klaten Regency despite positive economic growth, indicating that growth has not effectively reduced poverty. This study analyzes the influence of the Open Unemployment Rate (OUR), Human Development Index (HDI), and Economic Growth on poverty levels in Klaten Regency. Using a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression, the study utilizes secondary data from BPS Klaten covering 2007–2024. The analysis includes classical assumption tests and hypothesis testing. The results show that OUR, HDI, and Economic Growth jointly have a significant effect on poverty. Partially, OUR has a positive and significant effect, HDI has a negative and significant effect, while Economic Growth has no significant effect. These findings highlight that reducing unemployment and enhancing human development are more impactful in addressing poverty than economic growth alone. Therefore, inclusive and human-centered development strategies are essential to ensure that the benefits of growth reach vulnerable groups.
