Cu-Ni-Pd nanoparticles encapsulated in poly propylene imine (PPI) dendrimer: a potential catalyst for Suzuki Miyaura C-C coupling reaction

PPI encapsulated Cu-Ni-Pd nanoparticles synthesized by co-complexation method and characterized by XRD, SEM and EDX techniques. The PPI encapsulated Cu-Ni-Pd nanoparticles shows high catalytic efficiency in Suzuki-Miyaura carbon–carbon coupling reactions of aromatic iodides and chlorides with phenyl boronic acid. The highest catalytic activity was observed at EtOH/water ratio of 3:1 while using Na2CO3 as a base. The conversion of Chlorobenzaldehyde into 4-phenyl benzaldehyde has yield 99% for less than 2 h of reaction time. The catalyst shows high recyclability upto seven runs and easily separated from the reaction medium by filtration. PPI supported Cu-Ni-Pd nanoparticles catalysts were found to be promising, simple in preparation and stable for the Suzuki cross-coupling at mild temperature.
