Staptochten met ouders van verslaafde kinderen
Parents of adult children who struggle with serious addiction problems experience quite a few challenges. Their specific suffering and engagement find little to no societal recognition. They experience isolation and a narrowing of their identity. Regular group conversations offer a first answer. Yet, a more explicit change of context, including a mixture of the familiar and the unexpected, can offer an additional antidote. We do this in the shape of a three-day walking weekend. We have found our inspiration in narrative practice, combined with ideas borrowed from sociologists about “exoticizing the mundane” and appreciating the unexpectedly active role of material surroundings and circumstances. Always with an eye on contributing to a broader and more connected feeling of identity.
