Lichaamstaal: het onverwoorde in de praktijk
Body language: the unspoken in practice Observing, identifying, and discussing non-verbal communication — through body language, bodily sensations, actions, and behaviors — is, along with the use of words and dreams, of great importance to the psychoanalytic psychotherapeutic process, as it helps to make the unconscious conscious. In every conversation we are present not only with our words but in our bodily posture and actions too. Unravelling a person’s dynamics is complex, and using non-verbal information alongside verbal information and dreams enriches and clarifies our psychoanalytic psychotherapeutic work. Learning to observe and venturing to articulate what is perceived non-verbally requires practical training and encouragement within our verbally oriented psychoanalytic practice.
