POTENSI PENGEMBANGAN USAHATANI KENIKIR DI KOTA KENDARI

This study aims to assess the potential for developing kenikir farming in Kendari City through a financial feasibility approach to kenikir farming by comparing two treatments, namely the use of bokashi fertilizer and no fertilizer use. The method used is a quantitative descriptive approach, with primary data collected through direct observation of production cost components and crop yields. The analysis was conducted by calculating total production costs, revenue, and the R/C ratio as an indicator of business efficiency. The results of the study show that kenikir farming without fertilizer produced an R/C ratio of 4.57 with total costs of Rp 1,134,000 and revenues of Rp 5,184,000, while the use of bokashi fertilizer produced an R/C ratio of 1.37 with total costs of Rp 8,694,000 and revenues of Rp 11,880,000. Although the use of fertilizer increases crop yields nominally, the increase in production costs significantly reduces efficiency. The conclusion of this study is that kenikir farming without fertilizer is more financially efficient and more viable for development, and has the potential to support local food security and increase farmers' incomes in urban areas.
