A New Implicit Method to Extract the Electrical Parameters for Single-Diode Model of Photovoltaic Panels

We introduce a new, simplified and non-iterative approach, to accurately predict the five intrinsic parameters of the single diode model in solar cells. We apply this method to two distinct categories of solar panels (monocrystalline and polycrystalline) to extract both the current-voltage ([Formula: see text]) and voltage-power ([Formula: see text]) characteristics. The accuracy of the extraction method is verified by comparing voltage-current ([Formula: see text]) curves, voltage-power ([Formula: see text]) curves with manufacturer data, photovoltaic software, and results from other authors at different temperatures and radiation levels. Furthermore, to verify the accuracy of the proposed method, we also study comparative indicators such as root mean square error (RMSE), coefficient of determination ([Formula: see text]), normalized absolute error (NAE), as well as normalized root mean square error (NRMSE) and mean square error (MSE). The proposed method is more applicable than other methods and can be effectively considered for estimating the five parameters of the single diode model for solar cells.
