Occupational Poetry as a Tool for Understanding the Arabs' Perception ofProfessions and Their Practitioners in the Abbasid Era

This study aims to explore occupational poetry, as this type of poetry in the Abbasid era is considered one of the most significant literary sources for understanding the Arabs' perception of professions and their practitioners. The Abbasid period witnessed extensive cultural development, with economic and commercial activities flourishing, leading to the emergence and diversification of many new professions, the representation of these professions in Abbasid poetry varied; some were depicted positively, while others were portrayed negatively. Through poetry, it can be inferred that the Arabs in the Abbasid era associated professions with social classes, such as trade and agriculture. Abbasid poetry reflected these class distinctions, contributing to the formation of social awareness during that period
