Análisis de la decodificación de palabras glotalizadas en lengua tseltal por niños de segundo y tercer ciclo de primaria

The development of written language in indigenous Mexican has few contributions that offer evidence of the way in which individuals access reading and writing skills, as well as the conceptualizations behind them. The present study aligns with this aspect and examines the effect that exposure to written language in the Tseltal language may have in the context of two experimental tasks that test the decoding of glottalized words is tested. The results show that participants tend to make better conceptualizations when they are exposed to written form of the language they must decode. These findings allow us to rethink the value of effective and functional exposure to indigenous languages, with the goal of establishing better mechanisms for the optimal development of bilingual literacy.
