The article presents the results of a study of consumer preferences and demand barriers in the field of domestic tourism in Russia. Based on a survey, the frequency and geography of tourist trips of Russians, the popularity of various regions and types of tourism, and the seasonality of travel were analyzed. The main trends in the development of domestic tourism have been identified: its growing popularity compared to outbound tourism, the dominance of independent travel, the predominance of beach and cultural-educational types of recreation, and high seasonality with a peak in the summer period. The uneven distribution of tourist flows across the country’s regions has been noted. The identified patterns made it possible to form an idea of the current state and prospects for the development of domestic tourism in Russia.
