Exploration and Practice of the OBE-BOPPPS Model in the Teaching of “Fundamentals of Geology”
This study innovatively integrates the OBE and BOPPPS teaching models into the “Fundamentals of Geology” course. Addressing the disconnection between theory and practice and the lag in ability cultivation in traditional geological teaching, it optimizes the teaching process through the six stages of the BOPPPS model, guided by the outcome-oriented concept. Taking “Composition and Structure of Rocks and Minerals” as a case, it elaborates on how to effectively integrate these two models into actual teaching, with each stage from student analysis to summary and extension reflecting a teaching design centered on student learning outcomes. The practical results show that the pass rate of students reached 100%, and the course goal achievement rate was 0.87, demonstrating that this integrated model can significantly enhance students’ knowledge mastery and comprehensive application abilities, providing a new and effective path for the cultivation of geological professionals and the reform of geoscience education.
