Evening Star
Would you rather have a gay child, or a dead one? In this work of philosophical short fiction, Grace and Robert, two teenagers navigating the isolating landscape of high school and personal torment, seek solace in each other’s company and a shared act of defiant self-expression. When societal pressures and family rejection for being gay overwhelm Robert, Grace desperately tries to pull him back from the brink, confronting themes of identity, abuse, and the limits of human connection in the face of profound despair. Ultimately, the story culminates in tragedy, questioning whether even the deepest empathy can bridge the gap between individual suffering and a world that often refuses to understand or forgive.
