Correlation Between the Jakarta Cardiovascular Risk Score and the Risk of Cardiovascular Events Based on the Calcium Score

Objective:The Jakarta Cardiovascular Risk Score (JAKVAS) is a modification of the Framingham score used to estimate cardiovascular events in Indonesian people who cannot easily get regular laboratory tests. The calcium score (CAC) is a feature of atherosclerosis that can be measured with CT scans.Little research has examined the relationship between those two metrics. Materials and Methods:This cross-sectional study sample patients who underwent a CAC examination at Surabaya Hospital.Patients were assessed for risk factors based on the JAK-VAS: sex, age, blood pressure, body mass index, smoking history, history of diabetes mellitus, and physical activity. Results:The study subjects were 123 people (61.0%male, 39.0% female) who met the inclusion criteria. The greatest proportion on the JAKVAS was the high risk category (42.3%) and the greatest propotion based on the CAC results was the no risk category (53.7%).The correlation between JAKVAS and CAC risk stratification was significant (p<0.005). Conclusion:The CAC and JAKVAS techniques can be used according to patient preferences to determine the need for preventive medications and predict the early signs of heart disease.
