Ultra-Broadband Flat-Top Quantum-Dot Mode-Locked Lasers Through Dispersion Engineering
We demonstrate ultra-broadband flat-top quantum-dot mode-locked lasers (QD-MLLs) engineered via dispersion compensation, achieving stable mode-locking performance. A critical feature of these devices lies in their optical bandwidth, particularly the flat-top spectral profile, which directly impacts the number of usable longitudinal modes relative to the free spectral range (FSR). The expanded spectral coverage of these comb lasers unlocks versatile applications, spanning fields such as ultrahigh-speed optical communications, optical interconnects, and photonic neural networks.
